Military Corner

Each month, The Bethel Military Ministry will celebrate important Military Holidays and Observances. The purpose is to remember, observe, and show appreciation to the Bethel military members, spouses, Veterans, and lost loved ones who have served in the Armed Forces. The first observance will be July 29th which is the 248th Birthday of the Army Chaplain Corp. Below is a brief overview of the Chaplain Corp. The full history of the corps is attached.

“The U.S. Army Chaplain Corps is one of the oldest and smallest branches of the Army. The Chaplain Corps dates back to 29 July 1775, when the Continental Congress authorized one chaplain for each regiment of the Continental Army, with pay equaling that of a captain. In addition to chaplains serving in Continental regiments, many militia regiments counted chaplains among their ranks.” In support of the 248th Birthday of the Army Chaplain Corps, the Bethel Military Ministry would like to recognize COL (retired) Addison Burgess for his dedication and commitment to the corps:
